Up and coming in 2015

A list of some courses I'll be running over the next few months:

Although my new house is currently a demolition site!.. I am running some day upholstery/sort furnishing courses in some workshop rooms in Feb and March.

This will be an opportunity to bring along a project and get guidance.

It'll be a full day for £75, including lunch, and tea and cake. 

I already have a fully booked day but am planning on running another if there is interest. Get in touch if you fancy giving yourself a nice creative day!

This Thursday (15th) I'm running a lamp making workshop at Buttons and Bows in Belper. 

The SEW-cial is due to start next wed night:

People are bringing along lots of projects, including blinds, appliqué and garments to alter. There's only one space left to fill so get in touch for more info.  

Jan SEW- cial 2015

The SEW-cial is back, starting a week later than written on the leaflet! 22nd of Jan is the first session. Please enquire to book a place.

The SEW-cial is back!

Still a few spaces left on The SEW-cial starting in Oct. Excited about the different projects lined up to do- pattern cutting, children's clothes and the inevitable Christmas gifts (don't really want to think about that yet though!)  

Quirky skirts and a new SEW-cial

New set of Sessions will be starting on the 8th May. 5 Thursday nights, The Cube Cafe, Deda, Derby, 7-9pm, £50. Bring along a project you need help with, or be set new projects such as skirts, bags, or cushions.

Great news for some free publicity-The  Derby Telegraph came along to The SEW-cial last week, the article should be published around Easter.

Spaces on the Saturday SEW-cial

Whatever your sewing need, beginner or enthusiast looking to motivate yourself- the Saturday SEW-cial will really give you time to get your teeth into a project! Anything from clothes, gifts, quilts or soft furnishings. Enjoy a cuppa and lots of cake whilst you sew!

One to One sewing sessions

With the great British Sewing Bee about to start- more people than ever are keen to get sewing- if you would love to hand make clothes, design your own soft furnishings or simply get to grips with using your sewing machine, Then one to one sessions could be an option! I offer private sessions in the comfort of your own home: £30 per hour, or £50 for 2 hours, Im also happy for you to buddy up with a friend and teach you both for the same price, which means you get a better deal! 

Saturday SEW-cial

The Thursday SEW-cial's are going great, but I've had a lot of enquiries about running some full day workshops- which got me into gear! The first of The Saturday SEW-cial's will be starting on the 12th April, 9.30-4.30, at Dèda Derby. 

The cost is £75 which includes tea and cake, and expert tuition for the day! (Bring along your own lunch, or try something delicious from The Cube Cafe) Saturday SEW-cial will be held in a big light room with plenty of space to spread out and sew! Bring along a project or idea and really get your teeth into it. Please contact me on info@lucyrenshaw.com to book your space and discuss your ideas. Only 6 spots available! 

Here's some skirts I knocked up with old table cloths and curtains- come along to the Saturday SEW-cial and I'll show you have to transform your old fabrics into something truly fabulous!!  

Free session tonight!

At the free taster session tonight-9th Jan, we'll be making colourful pin cushions and fabric bowls- I'm taking all my bits and bobs- tassels, fabrics, buttons, for people to have a good old rummage!

This block of sessions is now fully booked, but please register your interest as more classes will be starting in March.

NEW DATES FOR 2014 The Sew-cial kicks off on the 9th Jan with a FREE drop in session to see what it's all about. No need to bring anything, I will provide all materials to make something small to take away- just come along, have a coffe and a chat and decide if you'd like to sign up for 6 sessions, starting the following week.

Victorian Decorations

Each week at The SEW-cial Nottingham we'll be making something different. This week was Victorian Decorations with paper and lace. 

The SEW-cial Derby has become more of a 'bring your own project' session. people have brought along make- up bags, aprons, knitting bags and I give them a helping hand with their idea. 

I'll be running a free open evening on the 9th Jan at the Cube Cafe in Derby, to come along, see what it's all about and decide whether you'd like to sign up!

Pop Up Centre SEW-cial Nottingham

The SEW-cial Nottingham kicked off at the pop up centre (10 Fletcher Gate) where my work is also for sale in Debbie Bryan's shop. I used the opportunity to style an area and use some of my many charity shop gems to display beads, scissors and all the other sewing equipment! People made little Christmas decorations whilst drinking mulled wine served by my trusty friend Jeeves!

  

THE SEW-CIAL Nottingham

Gingerbread men and smoothies!

Stockings, decorations, gingerbread men and advent calendars were all made last night, whilst drinking delicious home made smoothies and a bite to eat from the Cube Cafe- everyone went home with some finished sewn goodies! Pot stands, fabric bowls, and aprons are all lined up for the next few sessions.

Nottingham SEW-cial

Excited that The SEW-cial will be starting in Nottingam's creative quarter in collaboration with Debbie Bryan's studio and shop. I'll be launching the concept at the new pop up shop on Fletcher gate on the 20th of November- this is a free event, 5.30-8pm, drop in and make a unique Christmas decoration. My work is also for sale- cushions, lamps and armchairs will all be on show. 

The SEW-cial will then be happening every Thursday for the next 3 weeks. 5.30-8pm tea and cake and all materials provided, £25 per session or £60 for 3. Contact info@lucyrenshaw.com to find out more or book your place at www.debbiebryan.co.uk

Many possibilities!

No matter what project I set at 

The SEW-cial everyone interprets them differently- which is what I love about sharing skills and ideas! This week fabric advent calendars were still being beavered away on- funky patch work ones with different embroidery techniques but also organised versions with thought out colour schemes- both look fantastic, and there are so many more options. 

This rather nice little gingerbread decoration was also sewn by one of the girls- I suggested she used an old jumper to make a lampshade last week- so really nice to see she's been inspired to do the same here!

I also started to teach some binding techniques and we talked through a few quilting and appliqué ideas.

Next week I'm taking along ideas for more fabric decorations and stockings.

Really need to get a move on with making Christmas stuff too- not just telling others what to do!
